RadioOnFire.com - According to court filings, a drug device company executive named Scott Kennedy let an escort run up $5.8 million in unauthorized charges on his credit card. The filing noted that Kennedy allowed the woman to charge $24,000 for movers to take her potted plants from Illinois to her new mansion located in San Diego. The woman was also planning on opening a spa with the company card funds.
Kennedy was fired from his company Nemera after an internal investigation revealed that there was irregular financial activity taking place with company funds. From there, the company alerted the FBI who began their own investigation into the matter. According to authorities, Kennedy and the escort blew threw $5.79 million in 16 months. The man moved the woman and her kids to San Diego where he footed the bill for them.
When asked why he did what he did, Kennedy said “I wanted to have a family. I wanted to be loved and cared for. My heart kind of [overrode] my head and said, 'Take a chance.’ Well, it blew up in my face.” The escort allegedly lied to Kennedy and told him that she would reimburse him for all the money he spent. According to an FBI report, the woman said that a rich family adopted her and a trust fund was made in her name worth $4 million that could be accessed once she turned 30.
