White House Adviser Says Poem on Statue of Liberty Doesn't Matter

RadioOnFire.com - A CNN reporter and Senior White House policy adviser Stephen Miller got into a bit of a back-and-forth after the adviser announced a plan to reduce the amount of legal immigration to the United States. The conversation became really heated when CNN’s senior White House correspondent— Jim Acosta asked if the plan, that is set to prioritize merit-based immigration over reuniting immigrants with their family, goes against the poem engraved on the Statue of Liberty. The Emma Lazarus poem says “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

Miller shot back with an answer that has thrown many off, saying “The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of liberty lighting the world. The poem you are referring to, which was added later, is not part of the original Statue of Liberty.” CNN’s Acosta replied by saying Advisor Miller was pushing “some sort of National Park revisionism.” This battle adds to the long list of spats between the Trump administration and CNN’s team.
